Anyone who knows Natte Valleij winemaker Alex Milner knows that he is an avid cycler, and it was on a 165 kilometre ride from Natte Valleij to the West Coast that Alex stumbled across a lonely block of Cinsault surrounded by wheat fields, locked behind innumerable gates. The vineyard was planted in 1978 (we think) on Malmesbury shale and decomposed granite soils.
